What Wears Out — and When to Replace It
The most common failure points are the teflon tape and wire element. Replace them before a bad seal costs you a pound of meat.
Repair Kit
Teflon tape, wire elements, and foam gasket — everything needed to restore seal quality on a Pro-2300 that's been losing vacuum. Buy one before you need it.

Protects the wire element and gives you a clean seal. When it starts browning or cracking, replace it. Sold in strips or 10-yard rolls.

The heating wire that fuses the bag shut. When seals start failing mid-way or look uneven, this is usually the cause. Usually sold in 5-packs.

Keep your sealer protected between uses. A cover adds years of life by keeping debris out of the pump and seal bar area.

Why We Know This Machine
The Weston Pro-2300 didn't just appear on store shelves. There were real people involved in convincing Weston to bring it to market — people who understood what serious home processors and small commercial operations needed and couldn't get at the time.
I was one of them. There were four of us, all with skin in the game. We helped make the case to Weston. We tested the machine. I made the early videos showing people how to use it — including how to run FoodSaver-compatible rolls in a machine designed for a different use case.
That history is why the recommendations on this page come from actual experience. Read the full story →
Need a commercial chamber sealer instead? The Pro-2300 is excellent for external sealing, but if you're processing serious volume or need to seal liquids, the next step up is a chamber machine. See the TC-280 →
